A Travel experience by a Golf Professional
The third and my last part of Marbella will be mostly about what you can do around the golf trip. All of us have different needs and there are so many things to do if you really want to experience.
First of all when it comes to hotels and accommodation I would like to give a few suggestions.
If you want to go high-end hotels and luxury my suggestions would be
Finca Cortesin in Casares
Puente Romano in Marbella
Marbella Club Hotel in Marbella
To get good hotels for better value I would recommend
Rio Real Hotel east of Marbella
Andalucía Plaza in Nueva Andalucía in a perfect location
NH Marbella, which also is in Marbella
Hotel Club Maritimo, which is located in Sotogrande Port
If you are tired of choosing Hotels and which is very popular today is to rent a house or apartment. If this interest you feel free to contact us and we will send you in the right direction.
Marbella is also known for its very nice food culture and as I mentioned in the first part there are a few great Restaurants I recommended. Other to this list is Hacienda Patagonica in Marbella, which is a small Argentinian tapas restaurant where you can’t book a table but it is great value and very good service.
Another restaurant if you want a little bit higher ends is the well-known Los Bandidos in Puerto Banus. It has been there for almost 30 years and it is very important to plan this to be able to get a table. I will promise perfect service and you will have an amazing evening in this place filled of history.
A small hidden pearl in my opinion is Trocadero Sotogrande. If you pass by this area this is a perfect place to visit for lunch or dinner. Amazing views and it gives you the feel that you walked into a beach restaurant in Bali. They also serve sushi and they have fantastic drinks.
Getting back to more towards the Beach Clubs where you also can have a great lunch my recommendations would be Nao for good food and party, Nikki Beach which is the most well known beach club in Marbella which is located 15 east of Marbella. Then if you want a little bit calmer but with very high quality I would recommend Ancla Restaurant in San Pedro which also have saltwater pool and this place is great during summer time if you want to relax. Last but not least is the newly done La Reserva Beach Club which has been made artificially close to their golf course and which is the same level as everything else at this Club. It has everything for the person who wants to relax or if you really want to enjoy a day with your fronds. Don’t miss out of visiting any of these places.
If you want to explore the dancing scene in Marbella my suggestion would be to go first to Breathe in Puerto Banus for a drink and then choose between Mosh in Nueva Andalucía or La Suite in Puente Romano and from there go to the famous night club Olivia Valere.
If you are a friend of the nature Costa del Sol have a lots to offer. You can rent a bike or walk in the mountains and if I where you I would recommend a boat ride, maybe some fishing trips or why not climb La Concha, the mountain behind Marbella. It is about a 4-5 hour trip but you will see Marbella with new eyes. Other things to do is to visit Ronda where you can have a guided tour in the town followed up by a wine tasting at one of the many wine yards outside the city walls. Other suggestions would be to visit Caminito del Rey but remember to buy tickets way in advance. My suggestion would also be to bring a guide. Other things to do I a day trip to Alhambra outside Granada or ski a couple of days in Sierra Nevada between November and April or maybe take a boat to Morocco.
If you are into other sports there is plenty of tennis clubs in the area. The most known one is Manolo Santana and Puente Romano and if you want to make a golf trip including padel tennis we are very happy to help you with this together with top coaches and great games. For the kite surfers it takes one hour to get to Tarifa, which is, know for being one of the best places in Spain for its sport.
